Samples

What is a Sample?

A sample is a small, custom-made representation of a product. It’s created to confirm the final look, feel, colour, and texture before the full job begins.

Samples are essential for:

 Decision Support

So that clients, architects, or project managers can confidently approve the product before committing.

 Approval Process

To present to key decision-makers senior management, clients, heritage committees, or municipal authorities especially in high-spec or restoration work.

 Accuracy & Quality Assurance

To ensure that everyone is aligned on colour, finish, and surface texture, reducing costly errors or last-minute changes later on.

Why Are Samples Charged?

Creating a sample is real work and that means real costs. It may look small, but a sample involves:

  • Technical and design consultation
  • Colour matching or texture selection
  • Custom mould adjustments or setup
  • Skilled hands-on labour
  • Use of production equipment, curing facilities, and workspace
  • Time, travel, and handling

This is not off-the shelf work. It’s a precision effort to make sure your full job runs smoothly.

Charging for samples is standard across the concrete product industry. It ensures time and effort are respected, and it helps filter for clients who are serious about moving forward.

What You’re Paying For

You’re not just paying for a block of concrete you’re investing in:

✅ Accurate colour, finish, and texture

✅ Correct size and form

✅ Fewer production errors

✅ Peace of mind

✅ A smoother approval process

A small cost upfront often prevents big problems later.

Standard vs Custom Samples

  • Standard Samples may be available on hand, charged at the current catalogue price (subject to availability).
  • Custom Samples are quoted individually, based on complexity, colour, mould, and design.

Good News: Credit on Bulk Orders

In many cases, Modcon will credit the cost of your approved sample toward your final invoice  if you proceed with a full production order. That makes the sample a cost-neutral step toward getting the right product from day one.

However, if the sample is not approved, or the project doesn’t proceed, the sample cost remains payable.

Our Commitment

We don’t just make concrete  we build confidence.

Every sample we produce is an opportunity to align vision, avoid delays, and ensure clarity for all stakeholders. It’s part of the way we work and have done for generations.

If you can draw it, we can make it.

Thank you for choosing Modcon.
