Scam Alert
Be Informed Before Making a Payment
Unfortunately, we need to bring an important matter to the attention of all our customers.
Over the past few months we have seen a significant increase in scammers pretending to be Modcon Precast.
Their goal is simple: to trick customers into paying money into fraudulent bank accounts.
Modcon Precast has NOT changed its banking details in over 20 years.
If anyone claims that our banking details have changed, or asks you to pay into a different account, please treat this as a major red flag.
How These Scams Usually Work
Scammers often:
- Use the Modcon Precast name and our Google location.
- Change the email address slightly so it looks genuine.
- Use different cellphone numbers.
- Offer unbelievably low prices.
- Claim to sell precast housing.
Modcon Precast does NOT manufacture or sell precast housing.
This is an example of a fraudulent advert. It is NOT Modcon Precast.
One of the most common scams involves a quotation for around R30,000, where the scammer only asks for a “delivery fee” of R2,000 to R3,000 upfront.
Many people think they are only risking a small delivery payment, only to discover they have been scammed.
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Invoice and Banking Details Fraud
Another growing scam in South Africa involves criminals intercepting emails and sending customers invoices with altered banking details.
These fake invoices often contain:
- Genuine quotation numbers
- Genuine invoice numbers
- Correct company names
- Correct project information
The only thing that changes is the banking details.
This makes the email appear completely legitimate.
Protect Yourself
Before You Make Your First Payment
We strongly encourage every new customer to:
- Verify our banking details.
- Confirm our email address.
- Contact us if anything seems unusual.
A simple phone call or WhatsApp message could save you thousands of Rands.
We would much rather spend two minutes confirming details than see one of our customers become the victim of fraud.
The Reality of Business Scams
Cybercrime and payment fraud continue to grow worldwide.
Some recent industry trends show:
- South African businesses lose billions of Rand every year to cybercrime and payment fraud.
- Invoice and banking detail fraud remain among the fastest-growing business scams.
- Construction and building suppliers are frequently targeted because of the high value of transactions.
- Criminals increasingly impersonate trusted suppliers to convince customers to make payments into fraudulent accounts.

Protecting our customers’ information is one of our highest priorities.
Modcon Precast complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Your personal information is used only for legitimate business purposes, including:
- Processing quotations and orders
- Bookkeeping
- Customer support
- Product updates
- Company newsletters
We do not sell, distribute or share your personal information with third parties.
We have proudly served South Africa since 1955, and maintaining the trust of our customers remains one of our greatest responsibilities.
To date, Modcon Precast has never experienced a breach of customer information or banking details.
